Dr. Paula Gunter is a mathematician, physicist, educator, and entrepreneur from Linstead, St. Catherine. She attended St. Jago High and completed Sixth Form at St. Hugh's High School. In 2005, she founded The Math Clinic and Science Works, offering personalized tutoring in math and science for high school and university students. The company later expanded to cover all natural sciences, drawing on a variety of international curricula. She has also developed and led training programs for teachers, aimed at improving math instruction across educational levels. Dr. Gunter earned her Ph.D. at Howard University, where she also lectured in math and physics. Her 1997 dissertation on Toric Calabi-Yau Varieties and Their Moduli Spaces significantly contributed to understanding superstring theory, earning her the Top Women in Science and Engineering Award from the National Technical Association. After returning to Jamaica, she briefly taught at the University of Technology before becoming Head of Upper School Mathematics and Physics at the American International School of Kingston.
