Dr. Theresa Rodriguez-Moodie is a geographer and environmental scientist who advocates for the protection of nature and promotion sustainable economic development. She is currently the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Jamaica Environment Trust (JET), one of Jamaica’s leading environmental, non-government organizations (NGO).
Dr. Rodriguez-Moodie is a graduate of Holy Childhood High School. Her tertiary academic journey started when she earned a Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) degree in Geography from The University of the West Indies (UWI), Mona. After working for a few years with an environmental consultancy – Environmental Solutions Ltd. she returned to The UWI, Mona and earned a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Geography with her research on coastal landforms at the Yallahs River Delta/Albion Ponds, St. Thomas and the processes that have shaped them over geologic time and with climatic changes. She has also completed training in project management at The UWI Mona.
Whilst working on her Ph.D. she worked at The UWI, Mona as a tutor and assistant lecturer. On completion of her Ph.D. she re-joined Environmental Solutions Ltd. where she worked for over 7 years on consultancies including environmental impact assessments, hazard analysis and other projects in Jamaica and across the Caribbean, before being appointed to the position of CEO at JET in 2021. In this role, she leads projects and advocacy efforts aimed at protecting the country’s natural resources, improving environmental awareness and supporting public health.
